It is not for women with unexplained vaginal bleeding, a history of breast or uterine cancer, blood clots, stroke or heart attack, liver disease, or known pregnancy. Tell your provider about your full family history.
Oestrogen therapy carries boxed warnings: an increased risk of uterine cancer when taken without a progestogen, and increased risks of stroke, blood clots, heart attack, breast cancer and, in women over 65, dementia. Seek care for chest pain, shortness of breath, leg pain or swelling, sudden severe headache, vision or speech changes, or a breast lump. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time consistent with your goals, reviewed regularly.
