Important safety information
For Sildenafil. A summary, not the complete list of risks. If you add another treatment to your plan, its own page carries its safety information.
- This is not for everyone. Only a licensed provider can decide whether this treatment is appropriate for you. Never use it with nitrate medicines for chest pain or with riociguat: the combination can drop blood pressure to a dangerous level.
- Serious risks. Seek care right away for chest pain during sex, an erection lasting more than four hours, sudden loss or decrease of vision in one or both eyes, or sudden hearing loss, ringing in the ears or dizziness. These are rare but can cause permanent damage if not treated.

This is not for everyone
Only a licensed provider can decide whether this treatment is appropriate for you. Never use it with nitrate medicines for chest pain or with riociguat: the combination can drop blood pressure to a dangerous level. Do not use it if you have had a heart attack or stroke in the last six months, unstable angina, severe heart failure, very low blood pressure, or certain inherited eye conditions. Tell your provider about alpha-blockers, blood-pressure medicines, antifungals, some antibiotics and HIV medicines, and any history of an erection lasting more than four hours.
Serious risks
Seek care right away for chest pain during sex, an erection lasting more than four hours, sudden loss or decrease of vision in one or both eyes, or sudden hearing loss, ringing in the ears or dizziness. These are rare but can cause permanent damage if not treated.
Common side effects
Headache, flushing, indigestion, stuffy nose, back pain or muscle aches, dizziness and a temporary blue tinge or increased sensitivity to light.
Combining treatments
Adding treatments at the same time makes it harder to tell which one is working and which one is causing a side effect. A provider will usually ask you to stage them, starting one and adding the next at a follow-up. If you add another treatment to your plan, its own safety information applies as well.
