Important safety information

For Menopause care. A summary, not the complete list of risks. A provider reviews the full information with you before anything is prescribed.

This is not for everyone

Only a licensed provider can decide whether hormone therapy is appropriate for you, and only after a lab panel. It is not for women with unexplained vaginal bleeding, a history of breast or uterine cancer, blood clots, stroke or heart attack, liver disease, or known pregnancy. Tell your provider about your full family history.

Serious risks

Oestrogen therapy carries boxed warnings: an increased risk of uterine cancer when taken without a progestogen, and increased risks of stroke, blood clots, heart attack, breast cancer and, in women over 65, dementia. Seek care for chest pain, shortness of breath, leg pain or swelling, sudden severe headache, vision or speech changes, or a breast lump. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time consistent with your goals, reviewed regularly.

Common side effects

Breast tenderness, headache, nausea, bloating, spotting or breakthrough bleeding, mood changes and fluid retention.

About this treatment

The form your provider prescribes may be an FDA-approved medication or a compounded preparation. Compounded hormones are not FDA-approved and do not undergo FDA review for safety, effectiveness or manufacturing quality.
